Training a Lions hearing dog
Each Lions hearing dog costs approximately $30,000 to train to certified hearing dog level. This includes the ongoing support the training centre offers throughout the life of the dog.
The cost of training covers the initial purchase of the dog from the shelter, food, veterinary tests and treatments, staff for training and kennel management, facility and vehicle maintenance and, most importantly from the dog’s point of view, their treats.
Lions clubs donate significant amounts to keep the centre running, which we could not do without. However we always welcome any donations of money and goods and services to help us operate most effectively.
