Lions Hearing Dogs Inc.
relies on donations from individuals,
civic groups, businesses and charities
to provide a Hearing Dog at no cost to
the recipient.
In April
2006 Lions Hearing Dogs Inc. received advice that they were to be the
recipients of a legacy from a lady called Beth Klugh. Beth was a former
member of the Lioness Club of City of Adelaide and her husband Peter was a
member of the Lions Club of City of Adelaide, Peter had passed away quite a
few years earlier. The legacy was a massive $4.8 million comprising some
cash and an extensive share portfolio.

Road at Verdun just off the

After the
successful completion of intensive
specialized training at the Lions
Hearing Dog Inc. Training Centre, at
Verdun in South Australia, one of our
training instructors will accompany each
dog to its new home anywhere in
Australia.
The Lions Hearing Dogs
are predominantly sourced from the Royal
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to
Animals (RSPCA) and the Animal Welfare
League.

International, Dr Jean Behar, and his
wife, Stella, turned over the first
sod....
The Lions Hearing Dog
Centre at Verdun is the National
training, administration and
demonstration facility for the provision
without charge of hearing dogs to deaf
and hearing-impaired persons in
Australia and Papua New Guinea.
The
training is conducted over an eight
month period depending on the individual
dog’s ability. This specialised positive
reinforcement training includes these
essential features.
